Submission Questions
Payment by Zelle, PayPal or Venmo are accepted.
I will provide an invoice by email when work is complete. Do not send payment with your submission. To submit, please complete, sign, and enclose an order form that lists your books and package safely!
I strive to provide the fastest service possible but I will not rush your books! Turnaround times can vary and I keep the information on the home page up to date based on the current workload that is pending.
If extremely fast service is important to you, I now offer a Fast Track option that puts your books first in line! Many customers take advantage of this option and these books are usually started very quickly after arrival and are usually completed in one week. If your submission quantity is large, it can take longer.
If cost is a larger concern than speed I got you covered also! I offer a standard speed service which will have your books worked on in the order received after Fast Track orders are completed. The quality of the work is 100% the same but the turnaround time is more difficult to predict because it is unknown how many Fast Track submissions will arrive before your books are started. The time posted on the website reflects my best reasonable estimate.
Absolutely! The majority of the books are sent directly to CGC from here. I require that you complete the CGC order and just email me the packing slip so the graded books will be returned directly to you.
Of course! A huge benefit of using me is that I will provide you estimated CGC grades upon request and you can make the final decision on if a book should be graded or returned to you raw. Two shipments will have two shipping fees and two order handling fees (currently $6 per shipment)
Definitely! Some of my best customers are local! Just text me to arrange a time.
A $5 upcharge is applied to any book that has a fair market value between $750 and $3000 for a CGC 9.8 of that issue. The fee is applied even if your copy is of lower grade and value.
Books will be classified as ‘Unlimited Value’ if the value of that issue is above $3000 as a CGC 9.8. The fee for UV books will be 3.5% of the value of your copy of the book (not the 9.8 value) with a minimum charge of $45. Example: If a book has 9.8 value of $5000 but your copy is deemed to be a 4.0 which has a value of $900 then you will be charged $45. If your copy is deemed to be a 9.2 which has a value of $1500 you will be charged $52.50 (3.5%).
Most pressers (1) receive your books, (2) press them and then (3) ship them. If you select “No” to pre-screen, or do not make a selection, then that will be what I do also! You will still receive my estimated CGC grades on your invoice after books are completed.
If you select “Yes” to pre-screening for some or all of your books the following process will occur on those books: (1) the book will be removed from the bag and inspected for defects, (2) a current grade estimate will be provided for the book and the most significant defects will be noted, (3) the defects will be examined for repairability and a potential grade will be estimated for the book if you choose to have the book serviced, (4) the book will be rebagged, (5) a prescreen report will be emailed to you, (6) YOU will then decide which of those books to clean & press and inform me.
Then I will proceed with the normal process of cleaning and pressing. You will be charged $4 per book for the prescreening process. You will also be charged the pressing fee for books you want serviced.
Pre-screening will increase turnaround time by several days! All grades are estimates and cleaning and pressing results will vary from book to book. Accordingly, potential grades are not guaranteed.
General Questions
I am Ron Mobilia, The Palm Beach Comic Presser from sunny South Florida near West Palm Beach. I have been providing comic cleaning and pressing services for customers since 2021 but have been developing my techniques and skills since 2019 on thousands of my own books before that.
I initially started servicing books for a few local friends (including the comic auction site, Pedigree Comics) and didn’t intend for this to become a business, but word of mouth referrals resulted in people asking me to service their books. I find thrilling my customers with the results to be gratifying!
Palm Beach Presser’s cleaning or pressing processes are not considered restoration and will not result in a Restoration designation from CGC.
I do not remove restoration, color touch, or tape from books. I do not provide tear repairs, leaf casting, or stain removal services.
There are a few providers that offer these services that you should consider if your books need these types of time consuming and expensive services.
I do not feel that I have adequate experience nor the time needed to provide these solutions to my customers.
There is only one possible reason you would want to do that – it will save you a few bucks to only ship your books once. But there are a lot of reasons to send to me instead!
- Lower rates will more than offset any additional shipping cost and I will forward to CGC when books are completed!
- Much better results. Take a look at my IG page to see grade increases on previously CCS pressed books! CCS/CGC is a ‘once and done’ press shop but I will make sure your books have reached their maximum improvement!
- To me you are John, Jeremy, or Steve and not customer 1234567.
- Much faster service and constant status updates!
- I provide estimated CGC grades so you can feel more assured that the book is worth grading or you can have it sent back to you instead.
I am extremely open-minded and would love to find a win-win situation! Whether you just inherited a collection, want to sell a collection, or seek a barter or trade – let’s talk.
Some books need very little cleaning and some take 30 minutes or more to clean. The price model is a win some / lose some situation for me. The service price includes both cleaning and pressing as needed.
However, if you are experienced at grading and certain that you don’t want your books cleaned, and the submission quantity is large, then contact me for special “press only” pricing.
I would be happy to review photos of any defects that you see on your comics and advise if they are repairable. Text me photos or message me on Instagram!
However, if you have multiple books reviewed or you want a more detailed analysis, please utilize my optional pre-press screening when you submit your books!
